What to consider before a boiler replacement

At Woolfoot Heating we understand that a new boiler is a big investment for you and your family. We want to ensure that you make the best decision when investing in a new boiler as we understand the big financial outlay and the complex nature of boilers.

As a family-run Leeds-based business, we take pride in the quality of our work and ensure that you always provide a high quality honest advice to every customer. We take a conscientious approach when advising on boilers to give honest advice based on everyone separate situations. To help a little bit more, here are three questions we think you should ask every heating engineer when researching new boilers.

Is it better to repair or replace my boiler?

The big question to ask, is it better to replace my existing boiler or continue to pay for callout fees and parts as and when required. This is often the trickiest decision to make, but you have to base your decision on facts, figures and the overall safety of your family. Ask your heating engineer to provide you with two quotes:

A quote to supply and fit the parts

A quote to replace the entire boiler

Based on the two quotes you receive it is important to make your decision on what will financially benefit you in the long run as well as what you can afford now. Repairing your current boiler may save you money in the short term but in the long run may cost a lot more money than a new boiler. To help you manage the initial cost, we offer market leading credit products through Hitachi Capital. Depending on the boiler you choose we can even offer up to 10 months interest-free finance.

Is this the best boiler for my property?

It’s important to do your research as well as get guidance from a heating engineer. You want to ensure that you get a boiler that provides plenty of heat and hot water that your property needs but also is economical to run in the long term.

It may be worthwhile getting your chosen heating engineers to quote for a couple of different boilers, showing the difference between them and ask which they’d personally recommend. It is also important to consider the energy ratings and manufacturers guarantees that come with each boiler, as this may be very beneficial if a problem was to arise in the future.

Will it help to reduce my heating bills?

A new boiler will be far more energy-efficient and you should see a saving on your monthly fuel bills compared to your previous boiler. According to the Energy Saving Trust, you could save up to £360 a year by updating to a much more efficient new boiler.

A new boiler may have an initial outlay but what you spend on the cost of a boiler may be significantly lower than the cost of endless repairs. You could potentially gain back what you have invested in just a few years.

As accredited installers of Worcester, Valliant, Baxi and Viessmann, we can help you get a new boiler, which is easier and more cost effective than you may realise. Find out how we can help you – call 0330 113 8555 to talk to our friendly team today!
